H5C1 BOM

Post by exxos »

The REV H5C1 is assembled as shown in the image below. There are some parts which still need fitting but nothing much overall needed to get it up and running.

Most parts listed should be available in the store or from a donor machine.

Pardon the relative newbness of the question, I have followed the project with great interest, but perhaps not to the greatest detail.

I'm planning to populate my freshly ordered H5C1 with salvages from a broken-motherboard 1040STF (no blitter).
While looking at the BOM, I noticed the ROM link leads to the TOS 162/206, the STE dual-ROM.

Is this as intended, or are the TOS 104/206 ROMs more suitable?

I realize that in either case, the TOS decoder board might be necessary to fully utilize 206 ROMs.

@StealthGunner385 the Tos1.04/2.06 would be a better choice and as you say, you'll need a decoder board for 2.06 to work :)
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

@PhilC thanks for confirming what my gut had told me. Considering the donor board's original ICs, looks like it's time to get a new CPU, MFP, DualTOS and Decoder.

@StealthGunner385 ST chipset only supports TOS104,TOS102 DUALTOS, but I don't suggest them as I am actually discontinuing that combination. It's why I am suggesting the TOS104, TOS206 ROMs. Then at least if you decide to use the decoder board, you already have TOS206 ROM ready for it.

Assuming an STF donor.

And it is working.

What parts do I need outside the donor. I know there are some header pins. The 72pin socket for ram would be a must?

What else can I NOT get from the donor?

You don't need two reset switches and you can use 68k processor in DIL package if you want to. You just have to solder in a socket for it.

The MFP is DIL on most Ataris (all?) and not PLCC as on H5c1 so nothing you can find on a donor board.

The ESSENTIAL list is what you need from my store.

while you can reuse your old CPU, I really would not bother and just get one of the 68HC000 CPU's from my store.
