I decided to have a go. Something just arrived in the post:

I'm going to write up the build here, wish me luck!

For the CTPCI I had to adjust the Gerber files with an editor in order to make them acceptable for pcbway. When I've checked them I'll post the adjusted files.

Looks like it, not sure what the J8 footprint is for.

Seems to be some kind of ... terminal block?

It looks like its 3.3v, since the main power connector delivers 5v, 12v and GND. Now why it needs that special orange connector to attach a wire I have no idea! I guess its just a handy clip thing.

Yes, it was to help less experienced users to deliver 3.3V to the board without soldering.

btw. some times ago I heard about some problems with CTPCI. What kind they were and were they resolved in that version?
