Balancing the two sides does not matter. Need help.

Post by kevinhenry »

Hello, currently the falcon system I am using has a problem with the balance on both sides. The right side is now larger than the left when it's balanced, but when pulled to the side, the two speakers are equal.
I've checked the basic hardware and connections and nothing is out of the ordinary. Does the software affect the balance? Thank!

Not sure I understand what you're asking. But wasn't there a cpx on the falcon language disk to set balance ?

Hi there.

I guess that English isn't your first language and you're relying on translation, so I will try to keep this simple.

Yes, software can control the balance (see the Falcon Language Disc for the Control Panel and CPX exxos mentions).

I don't think this setting is retained after a power off, however.

If your audio balance is wrong from a cold boot, I would suspect a hardware fault. Most likely the earphone socket.

I wonder what the default value is for the audio stuff ? I would assume it would be centre balanced at power up, unless it is saved in the NVRAM

Not much specific detail from the OP. i.e. does the Falcon boot from HDD, which may have an AUTO folder program that fiddles with the sound/xbar settings?

As BW pointed to, a less than fully pushed in or damaged audio out connector could also be the problem.

If you can elaborate a bit more, maybe someone here can help you better. :)
