Re: Some users still using Hotmail etc and unable to post on the forum
I've honestly had a Hotmail account from the early days. I don't use it much anymore as I have my own domain via exchange on )365, but it was always fine for me. Odd.

Well, maybe your contacts are all 'MS approved'.rubber_jonnie wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 11:31 am I've honestly had a Hotmail account from the early days. I don't use it much anymore as I have my own domain via exchange on )365, but it was always fine for me. Odd.

Just look back to Exxos' older posts about email blocking, I guess.

But, from a more personal traffic POV, unless you are very lucky/astute and follow up all replies, etc. it could be difficult to tell if its happening.

Well, it's only a backup account these days, along with my Gmail account, so I'm not overly worried, but I do still get a lot of email in from when it was using it as my primary.mrbombermillzy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 11:48 amWell, maybe your contacts are all 'MS approved'.rubber_jonnie wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 11:31 am I've honestly had a Hotmail account from the early days. Of course with any email account you can never tell if email that is sent to you is arriving or not, so unless you have good access to logging about what's come and gone you're a bit stuffed.
I expect MS require some particular setup and if you don't have it you don't get in and you can only hope that if somebody emails you and you don't get it, they try alternative methods.

Well, thats the issue isnt it?rubber_jonnie wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 11:57 am Of course with any email account you can never tell if email that is sent to you is arriving or not, so unless you have good access to logging about what's come and gone you're a bit stuffed.

I know that they have not delivered mail to/from my account, so I can blacklist them from my choice of email providers.
As for if any others are doing the same...innocent until proven guilty I suppose.
Its a bit worrying that this happens with no apparent undeliverable mail notification though.

I don't know what you did yesterday but half way through the day I was forced to change my email address to post.
As from Sept 2024 you can't sign into hotmail/outloook via POP/IMAP/SMTP using just Username/Password and instead you need to have a 3rd party client that supports the newer open source industry standard oAuth2 protocol.

That would be scary if it were 100% true. But it's only 50% true. So it's not that scary.exxos wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 11:07 amDidn't know what! wow! Yes, this point was illustrated earlier on a few posts back: viewtopic.php?p=124192#p124192alexh wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 9:04 am That would be scary if it were 100% true. But it's only 50% true. So it's not that scary.

However, it was '100% true' that my Mozilla client would no longer retrieve the emails.

I dont care for MS trying new ways to 'update' things only to lock out everyone else, despite them trying to convince everyone 'its for your own good'.
Big tech companies needs to move away from this hustling gangster type of business practice.

I've had an IP address change. MS now instabounces all my emails to Hotmail. My address is in a block that's on a list, apparently.
