It was an issue when I replaced all of the 4116's so I think 5v is more likely, but now it's working fine I'm good

Re: I've been Coleco'd
OK, so I started reassembling tonight and realised my plan to use the jack on the modulator wasn't going to work as the top case where the joysticks connect and are stored, will collide with the new cable I have.
So, I put the connectors on the bottom of the modulator board and it all seems to clear after a trial fit:
And reassembly/testing is coming along nicely:
I need to figure out what I'll use for strain relief for the AV cable coming out of the back, but that really is a small problem. I've used a simple ty-wrap around the cable before, so I'm sure that'll work again
What is amazing is the ColUSB power supply. This is it next to a 27C256 ROM chip:
Considering it's a tiny little plug with a USB C connector and it's pumping out 12v, 5v and -5v you can colour me impressed. I may take the cover off to see how it's all done, but that'll be another night.

Re: I've been Coleco'd
Well, I had do do a bit more jiggling with the composite/audio out cables, but it's finally there and looks great
All the visuals are great too:
And the ColUSB is a little miracle:
And inside it's quite amazing:
I may look for another controller, but not in a tearing hurry now. I think I'll look for an SD card cartridge and I like these: Atarimax Coleco Cart
I've bought from AtariMax before and Steve Tucker is a really nice guy, but it'll have to wait a bit as we have a lot of expense this month.

Re: I've been Coleco'd
Nice epilogue, even without the second controller.
The SD cart looks pretty good too.

Yeah, Atarimax stuff is very nice, so unless I can find something a lot cheaper I'll go for that. Want something similar for the Intellivision too.

Re: I've been Coleco'd
So it seems there is a Megacart on PCBWay: Megacart
If it's cheap enough it may be worth giving a go if I can fit every last game onto the ROM

Re: I've been Coleco'd
Nice find !
The guy who designed this PCB has also an interesting sound module for the Colecovision on PCBWay.

Re: I've been Coleco'd
I saw that, yes, but I don't know how well used it is, but If I order the Megacart boards I may order some of those too.HigashiJun wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 10:42 pm Nice find !

Re: I've been Coleco'd
This PiRTOII looks also good, but to be honest, I do not much like Raspberry Pi powered gear in retro stuff.
It's just my opinion though...
