16 Mhz Booster Board (0212)

Post by pp10050 »

I have a 1040 STF upgraded to 4Mb Ram with an Ultrasatan Hard Drive. The motherboard version is C070523 Rev. D1 . Works perfectly, but I would like to fit the 16Mhz booster board Rev 1,4 (0212). I realise that this means changing the CPU and fitting the board on top. Not a problem as I am a retired Electronics Engineer. I've looked at the instructions and have 2 questions. First, will this work if I don't upgrade the ROM chips ? Currently it has 6 TOS 1.04 chips fitted. Second, do I have to connect the CE wire. I can't figure out where to put it as the PCB is not marked. Hope someone can help. Paul

Hi, I think you will need the dual-tos board to replace the 6x roms. The dual-tos board has a CE-line connection. You should probably order a 16mhz cpu too, the original may not function at that speed properly.

Thanks for that, I was going to upgrade the CPU anyway. Now I know what to do with the CE wire, so I will order the bits I need.
