Re: Phil C's Raven build

I got a set of Raven PCBs but now I'm calculating the build cost I doubt I can afford it. If anyone else wants my PCBs let me know. It's not a cheap build Steve, that's for sure but will be worth it. Happy to lend you mine once it's up and running? That and I do have one or two spares that could go...

Re: Options for cleaning legs on PLCC chips?

@JezC Remember those old grey rubbers you used to have at school? the ones supposedly that could rub out pen but just wore a hole in the paper. I use a large one of those to get rid of light surface corrosion.

Re: Phil C's Raven build

Thanks for the offer rubber_jonnie they are a bit special and £23 +vat each and I need 6. There's no rush as I still have plenty to do to the motherboard. I soldered up the majority of the SMT chips and some of the resistors. I get a bit bored doing SMT resistors and caps as they take longer to find...

Phil C's Raven build

So a lot of the items needed to finish the Raven have arrived today thanks to Mouser. It will leave me with just the ram to obtain, which I'll probably get in a week or so.

Photos of the current status shortly.

Re: Raven. A homemade Atari-like computer

Thanks agranlund I'll give those chips a try and get some of the other stuff ordered this week. I'm going for the plcc roms as I've not had a great deal of luck with the SMT ones so far. Hopefully more news in a week :D Shame about the plcc 1508s as they really do look the part and the SMT version i...

Re: Raven. A homemade Atari-like computer

Ok, so as well as fixing the SC-55 I dug out the Raven board, primarily to see what bits I had and what I have to order. I might have got a bit carried away. PXL_20240831_164004654.jpg Far from complete but I do have the ISA slots and probably have a pic chip for the Eiffel interface. Re the ATF22V1...

Re: Raven. A homemade Atari-like computer

Actually ~~I stand corrected on the above, the SC-55 has instruments that sound like the MT-32. ut don't do LA or the MT-32 syses stuff. Still sounds good playing monkey island theme though. Do you know you can put the SC-55 into MT32 mode? Then it re-assigns all it's internal instruments to the co...

Re: Raven. A homemade Atari-like computer

Another wavetable option now with MT32 as welll: https://youtu.be/KRRM1D98yOY?si=0hAhD3gPe1mn2Smb I managed to snag myself an old Roland SC-55 last week, the volume knob had fallen apart but with I managed to get it all put back together. I had one of these brand new back in the day and had forgott...
