Re: Exxos's PiStorm blog

I don't know what passworded means in this case, but unless something at a very low level (bios level) is stopping linux writing to it, trashing is perfectly possible if you choose the wrong device. He's encrypted the drive. This will mean that it is unable to be resized without destroying it or ac...

Re: General Stuff(tm)

Today's fun has been organising hedge cutting at my Dad's house form 300 miles away at short notice. Yesterday I had a decorator visit the house and give a quotation for external redecoration and he gave an offer to start today, which I jumped at. This morning he texted me saying that to get to one ...

Re: OSI 600D Superboard Build

Yout have got a 74LS76 and not a 74LS76A haven't you? The truth tables are quite different and with an A variant the K and J values are ignored by the second stage. Screenshot_20240416_121850.jpeg P.S. Putting a logic analyser onto U64 pins 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11 would be useful as the relative timing o...

Re: Exxos's PiStorm blog

I know what you're thinking. Been there, done that for years but the Raspberry Pi OS configurator really does make it very simple. If in doubt, just pick the correct machine type and a basic Raspberry Pi Linux and click on the Next buttons. Any extra configuration will be done with the wizard which ...

Re: Exxos's PiStorm blog

I think that you're expecting things to be more complicated than they are and am then getting confused as to why it's not asking you awkward questions and looking for complexity and tying yourself up in knots. They've taken a lot of effort to make it almost foolproof and simple. In that last screen ...

Re: My fight against Microsoft Outlook hotmail etc email blocking

SPF, DMARC and DKIM only verify that the server sending the e-mail is the who they say they are in the DNS and that the e-mail hasn't been modified. All these things can be easily set-up automatically by spam bot networks so that the bot machines pass all these tests. The spam bot controllers merely...

Re: General Stuff(tm)

In the last week or so the right-hand speaker on my MacBook Pro 15" Unibody blew. So I bought a replacement on-line and tried fitting it this morning. All went well until I tried unplugging the speaker cable from the motherboard. The iFixIt site says to use a pludger to lift the connector strai...

Re: General Stuff(tm)

The Mac Portable regulated power supply unit is complete. I designed and printed a box for the electronics (everything hot glued) and it all tests good. IMG_3674.jpeg The built-in ammeter is useful as it shows when the system is charging the battery and when it reduces the CPU clock too. When suspen...
